Computer users (individuals, corporate and institutional employees alike) face a paradoxical challenge: dealing with a deluge of information and letting useful knowledge go unutilized.

4iKIM—a web-based, user-friendly tool—offers a solution to this information and knowledge management problem.The tool is designed to allow users to manage information from a wide range of types and sources—however different. It is also designed to promote information sharing and collaborative recording of knowledge in groups—however large. In addition, the way 4iKIM works drastically reduces the need for storage capacity involved in organizing and sharing electronic files.

This is achieved through the combination of an intuitive interface and an underlying structure that allows for multiple layers of relationships to be established across information elements. Information elements that can be integrated through the current version of the tool include those most commonly used: Emails; WORD and other text files (including “post-it” type notes and instant messages), charts, graphs and pictures (in any format); faxes/scans and PDF files; calendar entries and meeting agendas; invoices and financial statements; project plans; and client/contact details. The latest features that have been added to the tool allow for voice and video files to also be integrated.
